Chapter 2 of AJTT (pp.54 – 58) shows some early pocket watches (even from 1896, 1897, 1901, 1903 etc) with similar dials (even with red 5 – 60 markings) – albeit not identical.
It looks to be nickel-plated steel. There was no serial number visible anywhere on the movement: but I was advised that it could be behind the dial, and so it proved. I am told it indicates a 1906 manufacture date. The caseback has markings that my enable you experts out there to tell me some more facts: nicks.

A collector friend of mine recently found the Omega watch pictured below. The serial number dates it to the 1930s. We think it’s in its original case, but we’re unsure about the dial — a different Omega font than on the movement, and .
