I've had my Speedy 8 years and never worn it with the 1171 bracelet that it came with. I haven't asked for the watch to be polished so assume it'll just receive a "bath" to clean it before it's rebuilt. My bracelet doesn't have any dirt or grime on it so assume it was cleaned before I purchased it. The US 1171 is about the same level of quality as the original or even better. That is to say they are both disappointingly 1970s in feel. I doubt you'll be impressed with any 1171 after the 1998 bracelet (if I've got that right). The 1171 is rattly and cheap feeling vs the rather more solid 1998 but YMMV.

However it also looks like 1171 was never fitted to the mark ii so somewhere along the line someone has put a nice vintage but apparently incorrect bracelet on the watch. I came across an old thread where it was mentioned that the 808 end links that came with the 1450 Speedmaster bracelet can be retro fitted to an 1171 as an alternative to the rattly 633 links. In that thread it looked like the 1171/808 was fitted to a modern speedy and a quick google search suggested the 808's may not fit older watches. Most likely they will recommend a 1171 bracelet with 633 end links. If you Google Forstner Flat Link and Uncle Seiko flat link you will find two sellers of replica flat link bracelets. By all accounts they're good products and you might like the look better than the 1171 bracelet at a more affordable price.
